Learn How 19th Century Gristmill Works In Upper Freehold
Historic Walnford visitors can experience the rumble, clack and whoosh of the gristmill when milling demonstrations resume in April.

UPPER FREEHOLD, NJ — Historic Walnford visitors will once again be able to experience the rumble, clack and whoosh of the site's 19th-century gristmill when milling demonstrations resume in April.
Starting on Saturday, April 4, the gristmill will resume demonstrations on weekend afternoons.
Held at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m., these free demonstrations run through November and last approximately 15 minutes each.

The demonstrations show how corn was ground into meal in the 19th century, park system officials said.
Besides the gristmill, the site also features the pre-Revolutionary Waln House, a 1879 carriage house, and an assortment of other structures.

The site's historical buildings are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
