FREEHOLD, NJ — Governor Mikie Sherrill's proposed budget for 2026-27 includes a record $12.4 billion in aid to the state's 574 public school districts, including ones in Freehold.

On Thursday, the NJ Department of Education released its aid figures for each school district across the state.

Similar to the 2025-26 school year, most aid increases were capped at 6%, with the majority of aid cuts capped at 3%.

Freehold Borough School District

  • Will see $25,685,607 in aid
    • A $794,400 (or -3%) difference from 2025-26

Freehold Regional High School District

  • Will see $28,744,702 in aid
    • A $889,011 (or -3%) difference from 2025-26

Freehold Township School District

  • Will see $6,589,065 in state aid
    • A $372,965 (or 6%) difference from 2025-26

Upper Freehold Regional School District

  • Will see $4,820,452 in state aid
    • A $217,597 (or 5%) difference from 2025-26
