Pedestrian Hit On Route 9 Near Freehold Mall; Road Closed
The accident happened 10 days after a New York woman was struck and killed on Route 9 nearby.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities were investigating the cause of a serious motor vehicle accident involving Wednesday night on Route 9 near Freehold Raceway Mall.
Route 9 was closed north of Route 79 following the accident, according to the Monmouth County Police, Fire and EMS Facebook page. The accident appeared to happened sometime around 9 p.m.
The road was expected to be closed for several hours while the Freehold Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) investigated the crash, the report said.

It is the second serious pedestrian accident in the area in less than two weeks. On Nov. 5, Lydia O. Lim, 70, of Long Island City, NY, was killed when she was hit while crossing Route 9.
