Report: Fire Forces Evacuation At Freehold Township Care Facility

The fire before 11 p.m. injured one person, according to scanner reports

One person was injured in a fire at an assisted living facility in Freehold Township late Saturday night, according to reports on the Monmouth County Police, Fire and EMS Facebook page.

Residents were evacuated from Applewood Estates, a senior living facility, after the fire broke out sometime after 10 p.m. The scanner reports indicated the fire had be knocked down by 11 p.m. and EMS was requested for one person.

Applewood Estates is a senior living facility ”sponsored by the CentraState Healthcare System,” according to the community’s website.

It includes apartments and cottage-style homes, with assisted-living care as well as a nursing home.

Facebook reports from witnesses said Freehold fire trucks 16-1, 16-2, 15 and and a truck from Manalapan were on the scene, as well as ladder trucks.

The Monmouth County Fire Marshal was investigating.
