String Of Motor Vehicle Thefts In Freehold: Cops

The stolen vehicles were all taken with keys still left inside, according to Freehold Township police.

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Freehold Police Department has reported multiple motor vehicles stolen from area residences during early morning hours. The reports come as several other Monmouth County localities, including Manalapan and Holmdel, have detailed similar incidents in recent months.

Township police urge residents not to leave vehicles unsecured, even when parked on a private residence. According to police, these vehicles are often stolen to commit additional crimes.

The recently stolen vehicles were all taken with keys still left inside.

“Please help us break this cycle by locking your vehicles, removing your belongings, and key fobs from the vehicles,” the police department wrote in a Thursday Facebook post.

According to the post, recent incidents have occurred on Stirrup Drive, Hanging Rock Road, Fordham Place, Saxon Court and East Freehold Road.

In May, the police department reported multiple incidents of unlocked vehicles being entered, rummaged through and stolen.
