Suicide Attempt at Monmouth Jail

An inmate at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold attempted suicide early Friday morning, Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Cynthia Scott confirmed.

Information about age and sex of the individual could not be released.

The inmate was transported by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and is alive, Scott said.
