Winter returns just in time for Christmas

Winter will return just in time for Christmas eve and Christmas day with the threat for snow showers and temperatures struggling to break freezing by tomorrow afternoon.  A new cold and potentially stormy weather pattern is developing just in time for the new year next week!

Today, scattered clouds can be expected as one cold front leaves and another approaches from the west.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph, backing to the southwest briefly this afternoon.  Temperatures will hold in the mid to upper 30's over the interior and upper 30's to lower 40's along the coast.

This evening into tomorrow morning, another cold front will move through the region with scattered snow showers a threat this evening.  The snow showers will be capable of producing a dusting to an inch of snow at times.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 10's over the interior and lower to mid 20's along the coast.

High pressure will be in control tomorrow with scattered clouds expected.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will be well below normal throughout the region.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 20's over the interior and upper 20's to lower 30's along the coast.

A series of disturbances will move through the region Thursday on through Sunday with scattered rain and snow showers.  Otherwise, scattered cloud cover can be expected.  Temperatures will average near normal through the period.  Low temperatures will range form the mid 20's to lower 30's over the interior and upper 20's to mid 30's along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the upper 30's to lower 40's over the interior and lower to mid 40's along the coast.

An Arctic cold front will move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas on Monday with scattered snow showers.  Temperatures will fall to well below normal levels.  Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 20's throughout the region.  High temperatures will struggle in the upper 20's to lower 30's.
