The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County invites you to a musical/multimedia program, "YOU ARE THE FUTURE" in commemoration of the Holocaust on Sunday, March 30, 2013, at 2 PM. The program will feature singer, actress, educator, recording artist and child of survivors Naomi Miller. The cost of tickets is $20.00 members, $22.00 non-members, and $10.00 students.
Born in a DP camp in Germany after WWII, Naomi Miller has been performing since grade school when she was discovered singing in the Paterson, NJ mikveh run by her parents. Her first language and her first love was Yiddish, and as she listened to the Jewish shows on radio station WEVD, she dreamed of being on the radio.
That dream has come true for today the songs from her hit recordings are played on Jewish radio shows throughout the country each day. She has performed concerts throughout the United States and in Spain, Canada, Israel, Greece the Czech Republic and Puerto Rico. When Yitzhak Shamir, then prime minister of Israel came to the U.S. it was Miller who was chosen to perform for him. She sings in many languages, but Yiddish is her first love and her embrace of it has helped perpetuate a language that was almost lost in the Holocaust.
