13-Year-Old Stabbed Another In Chest: Atlantic City Police

The two 13-year-olds were fighting when one stabbed the other, Atlantic City police said. The stab victim was taken to the hospital.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A 13-year-old was charged after stabbing another 13-year-old in the chest during an altercation, Atlantic City police said.

He was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Oct. 10, police were dispatched to the 400 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue for reports of a stab victim, police said.

Officers Anthony Nastasi and Bayron Zelaya-Chavez arrived to find a 13-year-old from Atlantic City suffering from a stab wound to his chest and bleeding heavily, according to police.

Police gave the boy aid by applying a compression gauze and a chest seal to the puncture wound until Emergency Medical Personnel arrived on scene, police said.

EMS continued the aid before he was taken by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for further treatment, police said.

The suspect, with his guardian, surrendered himself to officers at the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building at about 8 p.m., police said. He was released to the custody of his guardian with a future court date.
