3 Teens Hurt After Crashing Into Tree: Egg Harbor Township Police

The 17-year-old driver lost control of the car and struck a tree, police said. One of the passengers, also 17, was trapped in the car.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three teens were injured after the 17-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree, Egg Harbor Township police said.

On Nov. 1 at about 7:15 a.m., the driver was heading west on Mill Road in a 2019 Audi A4, police said. As the driver approached the intersection with Tremont Avenue, a second vehicle entered the intersection, police said.

The teenage driver tried to evade the other car, causing him to head off the roadway to the left, sliding on the grass and striking a tree at 6220 Mill Road, police said.

He had two other 17-year-old passengers in the car, one in the front passenger seat and one in the rear, police said. Both the driver and the rear seat passenger were injured and transported to local hospitals, police said.

The front passenger was trapped in the car for about 45 minutes before he was extricated by Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Department, police said. He sustained multiple fractures to his legs and other internal injuries, and was taken to Cooper Medical Center, police said.

Traffic on Mill Road was detoured away from the area for approximately two hours while the crash was being investigated by Ofc. Kollman, Ofc. Ludwig and Ofc. Moran of the Traffic Safety Unit.
