7 Injured In Dog Attack In Atlantic City: Police

Two adults and five juveniles, ranging from 10- to 17-years-old, were bitten after two dogs became aggressive and got loose, police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Seven people were seriously injured after they were bit by two dogs on Tuesday in Atlantic City, police said.

The seven included five juveniles, ages 10, 13, 13, 15 and 17, and two adults, ages 37 and 62, police said.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Nov. 15, two juveniles were walking their dogs in a fenced-in area on the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue, police said.

The dogs encountered a third dog, which made them become aggressive and break free from their walkers, police said.

"Without warning, it appears the dogs then turned on the juveniles and began attacking them," police said.

Additional people became involved and tried to stop the two juveniles from being attacked, and the dogs turned on them too, police said.

An Atlantic City employee who works in the Engineer's office was able to hold down one of the dogs until Animal Control arrived and contained it, police said.

All seven victims were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, police said, for treatment of "serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

Both dogs were eventually contained and remain in Animal Control custody pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
