Atlantic City Man Recently Released From Prison Arrested Again

The man was one of three arrested in separate gun-related incidents last week.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — An Atlantic City man who was recently released from prison was one person arrested last week in three gun-related incidents, according to local police.

Miguel Rivera, 40, was arrested last Friday with a stolen handgun, Atlantic City police said in an alert. Kishawn Roberts, a 58-year-old Atlantic City resident, was arrested with Rivera, police said.

Officers searched the home as a culmination of a month long investigation led by Detective Alberto Valles, police said. During the search, officers found a digital scale used for distributing narcotics, hollow point ammunition and a loaded Taurus semi-automatic handgun.

Rivera was released from prison in November after serving nearly nine years on first-degree burglary and weapons offenses, according to a report by Breaking AC.

Rivera is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to possess a weapon, possession of hollow point ammunition, receiving stolen property and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Roberts is charged with possession of handgun ammunition.

Rivera sits in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, while Roberts was released on a summons pending a future court date, police said.

The next day, Atlantic City police responded to a domestic dispute. Ashnell Samuel, 39, allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to shoot them in the face, police said.

Sgt. Annese Parks, a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team, was able to speak with Samuel on the phone and got him to leave the residence peacefully, police said. He surrendered and was taken into custody.

An investigation of the residence found a loaded .9mm handgun.

Samuel is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, certain persons not to possess weapons and terroristic threats.
