The woman became critically ill with COVID-19, but she pushed through during her one-month stay at AtlantiCare's Mainland Campus.

GALLOWAY, NJ — Alice Hu journaled her mother's long battle with the new coronavirus at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus. Liu "Sing" Ruixing was admitted to the hospital March 11, moved to the Intensive Care Unit on March 17 and finally went home April 10.
Ruixing was AtlantiCare's first inpatient to test positive for COVID-19. The 60-year-old woman became one of more than 35 to test positive for the virus at AtlantiCare facilities to be treated and released.

Ruixing had a challenging case and became "critically ill," according to Dr. Frances Loftus, association chair of ARMC's Department of Critical Care. But he said her recovery inspires staff as they continue care for patients in the Mainland and Atlantic City facilities.
Atlantic County has reported 427 positive cases as of noon Monday, including 19 deaths. Seventy-one residents have been cleared as recovered, according to the County.
Now Ruixing continues her recovery at home.
I knew they had the knowledge and the expertise when I asked them, ‘Do you think this will help my mom?’" Hu said. "That’s why my mom is still alive today. I’m really grateful.”
