Egg Harbor Twp. Babysitter Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting 3 Minors: Prosecutor

EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — An Egg Harbor Township man was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting three minors that he was babysitting, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

George Getty, III, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with an 85 percent period of parole eligibility, officials said.

Getty previously pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault of a minor for each of the victims, aged 8, 10 and 13, officials said.

The victims and their family were present at the sentencing, according to officials.

Getty's sexual behavior was found to be "both compulsive and repetitive," according to a report from the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center at Avenel.

Because of this, Getty will serve his sentence at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center (ADTC) and receive sex offender treatment while there, officials said.

He is also required to register as a sex offender subject to Megan's Law, remain on parole supervision for life and have no contact with the victims or their families.
