Get your 2012 off to a good start

What are you doing to get the year off to a good start ? Do something exciting now that the holidays are behind us for another year.... in fact, come out to one of my annual events...

There are many places I've been where I have heard the expression, “So goes January, so goes the year ...”

Have you heard that too? I'm not totally sold on that; however, I do believe it has some merit. The reason I hesitate on that phrase is that January winds up being such a short month.

By the time you get yourself back from the eating, the partying, the visiting the decorating, the UN-decorating, etc., the month is pretty much gone. So I'm still on the fence with that one.

By the same token, what makes me excited about that phrase is the fact that we ARE in a NEW YEAR! This is a time when we try to regroup, refocus and make the New Year better than the last year. Isn't that what we all want to do?

That all being said, what are you doing to get your year off to a good start? Is it a resolution that you vow to keep this year? Is it an event, a project or something that gets you feeling great?

Do something exciting as soon as you possibly can. I think that alone will get you in the mood for an exciting New Year. We tend to get ourselves down after all the holiday festivities are behind us. So I suggest something exciting to pick you back up again.

And, if you are already excited, keep that motivation going. You are awesome either way and 2012 is going to rock!

Time is rolling around again for my annual celebration I call “Cross the Line,” on Friday, Jan. 20 from 5:30-8 p.m.

This is a mixer where I bring the business and entertainment communities together to mix and mingle. This is the 9th year I'm doing it and the 4th year at the gorgeous Foundation Room of the Showboat. Your ticket to get in is the fact that you know me. How cool is that?

You can bring anyone you like as long as someone in your party knows me or was invited by me. The event is free with a cash bar. I also have an optional $5 donation request for Brain Cancer Research.

Our own Ken Schaffer will be our VIP D.J. for the event. I look forward to seeing you there. Make sure if you are a Patch reader, you come over and introduce yourself. We will even have a Pach table there.

As always for any questions or more info, you can contact me at www.4astar.com I'm Ava Holly and we'll catch you next time in the Patch !
