"Our little Blog Patch" from Ava Holly

So what do you hear when you go to listen to someone speak?

Hello and welcome to “Our little Blog Patch” from Ava Holly

So yesterday I attended a motivational seminar in NYC featuring the great Tony Robbins. I thoroughly enjoyed him .

His engagement was on sales techniques etc. and I've been to so many of those things that it was sometimes hard to focus. Seeing Tony Robbins speak was really a treat, though.

What I found more interesting than the “sales “ presentation, was what I heard in between the lines. I'm sure you've heard the expression, “read between the lines,” yet another of my favorite sayings.

The OTHER speaker joining Tony at the event was supposed to be Les Brown, another great speaker. He was not able to attend because he was ill.

So Tony begins to tell us that he himself is a Cancer survivor. That when he went to the doctor and found out that he had Cancer of the throat, he was just devastated, being a person who SPEAKS for a living.

He had the same Cancer that Christopher Reeves had, but the doctor proceeded to tell him that he had the most treatable/curable form. There he was yesterday, speaking and Cancer free.

A resounding applause came from the audience. A comment was also made that using traditional and non-traditional methods got Tony through all this.

Hmmmmm....

So now, who was going to be there to knock us off our feet instead of Les Brown? Well....

If you haven't heard THIS speaker, take the time to go and see him. He is quite OUT OF THE BOX. You may not even like everything he says, but he is AWESOME and FUNNY. (2 great combinations)

His name is JAMES SMITH. I can not even put into words his delivery but just walking away with some basic points was amazing. For instance, you should have 7 streams of income.......... that's right........7!!!  You should stop at nothing to find a way to make your money work for you!  You should  “Plug into the game of LIFE.... STAND FOR SOMETHING....AND GIVE BACK”

I also love the quote, “If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything”. Stand up for your beliefs no matter what they are.

Another point he made was dressing up one night a week and having a night out. Even if  you have no one to go out with, he says, “ Put on something nice and take yourself out !”

If you have a teenager at home, James talked about dressing them up to go out once a week. Showing them how they should behave and how they should be treated.

This reminds me not to be so wrapped up in so many things ALL the time, that you don't take any time to enjoy life outside of the other forces..... just to enjoy!

James talked about the fact that he got a phone call to come out and speak because Les  couldn't be there etc.... and he told us that he was in his bed waking up for the event and  said, “ Please send me some weirdos to talk to today...... and you all showed up."

Maybe that was funnier when HE said it, although I think I'm pretty funny too. Hahaha

So the afternoon covered many different things, not only from the speaking topics, but what we got from between the topics....

I went to lunch with my driving partner and a couple of other people we had met and found out that James was helping these 2 people to get another stream of income going and I found it just fascinating.....

I know we spoke about positive thoughts and all that last time, but this just seemed to follow suit..... it helped someone come out of Cancer, it helped someone start a new business, it helped you use your brain and think, and it helped someone laugh.

Bringing you “Our little Blog Patch” I'm Ava Holly and we'll catch you next time in the patch.
