Yes, It Really Is OK to Take the Kids to the Philadelphia Flower Show This Weekend

A listing of family friendly activities being offered at the Philadelphia International Flower Show

If you have not been to the Philadelphia International Flower Show, because you thought it was too much with the kids, this is the year to think again. This year's Flower Show offers the several activities for them and lots for you too. Hey, even dad can have fun hanging out in the Man Cave (big screen TVs, comfortable seating, refreshments). You can find out more about the adult activities at the Philadelphia Flower Show website. But right now, I wanted to show you just what family activities are available at the Philadelphia International Flower Show.

(most of these activities will happen in the all-new Einstein Healthcare Network Family Lounge powered by Sprout Room 203)

Additional Flower Show Family Activities being offered Saturday, March 10

  • 10:30 am, 12 noon, 1:30 pm: Performances from Liz and Chica from Sprout's "Sunny Side Up Show" (45 minute sets)

 

Sunday, March 11 is Family Day with these additional activities

Do all the everyday activities above plus:

  • Family-friendly lectures and demos
  • More arts and crafts
  • 11 am: Ceremony honoring Girl Scouts who've earned the PHS Environmental Patch at The Gardener's Studio
  • Girl Scout cookies for sale
  • 1 pm: Interactive lawn games demo at The Gardener's Studio, led by Paul Tukey and Victoria Rowell.  Stop by and learn about outdoor games you can play with the kids.
  • 10:30 am, 12 noon, 1:30 pm: Performances from Sean and Chica from Sprout's "Sunny Side Up Show" (45 minute sets)
  • 12 noon: Beekeeping demo led by Jim Bobb at The Gardener's Studio
  • 2 pm: A reading of "The Lorax" by Kathy O'Connell of WXPN's Kids' Corner
  • 3:45 - 5:15 pm: Sprout Snack! Join Sprout's Kelly from The Sunny Side Up Show, The Pajanimals, and the Berenstain Bears for an interactive afternoon snack. Characters will join you at your table for one-on-one time, photos, and autographs. Please note: The Sprout Snack requires a special ticket; click here to order.

Except for the Sprout Snack, family activities are included with admission. 

Be sure to check out these exhibits too that both you and the kids will love.

  • a 25-foot-high waterfall with floral volcanoes and lava
  • walk under a sea of turtles and other aquatic life
  • Stories of Hawaiian myths and folklore told through flowers and plants
  • Hula, music and fire dancing performances
  • Motion graphics that will magically transform sculptural forms into breaking waves and lava flows.
