Car Strikes, Injures Cop While Coming Off Expressway: Police
The officer was working traffic duty on foot when he was hit by the car Monday morning, police said.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Hamilton Township police officer was struck by a car that was exiting the Atlantic City Expressway Monday morning, according to police.
Sgt. Christopher Gehring was on foot, working a traffic detail on Wrangleboro Road, in the area of the Atlantic City Expressway exit 12 off ramp (eastbound) at about 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 when he was struck by a car, the Hamilton Township Police Department said Monday night.
He was hit by a 2016 Chevy Silverado that was being driven by 55-year-old James Bruno, of Galloway Township, police said. Bruno was attempting to turn left onto Wrangleboro Road off the Expressway when the accident occurred, police said.

Gehring was injured in the crash, and he was taken by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (Mainland) for treatment. Bruno was not injured.
The incident is currently under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Township of Hamilton Police Department at 609-625-2700.
