Carjacker Caught In Parking Lot, Assaulted Galloway Assisted Living Worker: Police

GALLOWAY, NJ — A New York man was charged after he tried to burglarize several cars and assaulted a maintenance worker at Seashore Gardens Elder Housing in Galloway, police said.

Jeremiah Adejaiye, 19, of Medford, NY, was charged with first degree carjacking, second degree robbery and three counts of third degree criminal attempt (burglary), according to Galloway police.

Police were called to Seashore Gardens on Oct. 20 shortly before 1 p.m. for a report of a man burglarizing vehicles in the parking lot, police said.

Adejaiye was seen attempting to burglarize three cars before he was confronted by a maintenance worker, police said.

He opened the door to the Kubota utility vehicle that the worker was driving, pulled the worker out and threw him to the ground, police said.

Adejaiye got into the vehicle and began to drive off in it, police said.

When police arrived, Adejaiye left the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but he was caught and arrested, according to police.

The maintenance worker was uninjured and declined medical assistance, police said.

Adejaiye was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a court appearance.
