This wasn't your typical gun bust.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — This wasn't your typical gun bust. Atlantic City police officers seized 62 toy guns from a store on the Boardwalk on Monday, noting that the sale of imitation or toy firearms in the city is prohibited.

At 10:45 a.m., officers Nicholas Grasso and Domenick Montanaro were patrolling the area when they observed a sign in the window of the Bags and Accessories store located at 1311 Boardwalk, according to police.

The sign was advertising the sale of BB guns inside the store.

In September 2014, Atlantic City council passed an ordinance prohibiting the sale of imitation or toy firearms. The officers inspected the firearms, which appeared to be real in relation to size, weight and color with the exception of an orange tip at the end of the barrel.

The owner of the store, Naman Rafi, was issued a city ordinance for the possession and sale of the firearms.

"We wish to remind the public and store owners that the possession and sale of imitation or toy firearms that can reasonably be perceived to be an actual firearm is prohibited," the Atlantic City Police Department said in a statement.

"The orange tips are easily removable making the firearm appear to be real which could cause a potentially dangerous or fatal situation," according to police.

Anyone with information about stores selling these types of firearms is urged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Section at 609-347-5766.
