Dedication to Revolutionary War Local Heros, by Col. Richard Somers Chapter,Sons of the American Revolution.

Tell your neighbors what the event is about (recommended)

In October 1778, the British landed at Chestnut Neck and burned the village to the ground. The local militia under the command of Col. Richard Somers continued to defend this colony and thwart the British before and after this date. The Pension applications have been studied by SAR Chapter members to enable the listing of those local Patriots who sacrificed their lives and fortunes in our country's defense. A new Bronze Plaque contains the names of those local Patriots who were killed, wounded, or imprisoned during this time. The marker will be dedicated May 31. The ceremony begins at 11 AM, immediately following the 10:30 Remembrance by the General Lafayette Chapter at the DAR Monument. Join us in seeing if some of these heroes were your ancestors!

This is a family event, bring lawn chairs if you'd like.
