Drunk Driver's Vehicle Overturns, Crashes Into Woods: Galloway PD

The Galloway man was trapped in his vehicle, and firefighters had to remove him, police said.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A drunk driver's vehicle overturned and crashed into a wooded area Wednesday night in Galloway, police said. Firefighters had to remove the driver, John DeCarlo, from his vehicle because he was trapped.

The accident took place at 8:08 p.m. around west White Horse Pike and Berlin Avenue, police said. DeCarlo's vehicle was the only one involved in the crash. He crossed over the oncoming lanes of traffic, ran off the road and then crashed as his vehicle overturned, police said.

DeCarlo, 23, of Galloway, was treated at the scene. He didn't report any injuries, and he refused further medical attention.

The driver was taken to the police department where he was processed and released on numerous motor vehicle charges, including driving while intoxicated, police said.

Officer Paul Smith is investigating the crash. Germania Fire Company, Pomona Fire Company, Bayview Fire Company, Galloway Township EMS, and the Egg Harbor City Police Department assisted at the scene.
