Egg Harbor Twp. Walmart Evacuated After 'Erratic' Man Wields Knife: Police
Police said that the man was holding the knife in a threatening manner and acting erratic, causing the Walmart to be briefly evacuated.
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Walmart had to be evacuated for 15 minutes on Saturday after an employee reported that an "erratic" man was holding a knife in a threatening manner, Egg Harbor Township police said.
David Brennan, 32, of Brick, was seen armed with a knife in the electronics section of Walmart on Dec. 10 at about 2:40 p.m., police said.
When police arrived, Brennan was "acting erratic" and ignoring their commands, police said.

Additional officers arrived, and with the assistance of Walmart employees, began evacuating the store, police said.
The store remained evacuated for about 15 minutes as police tried to negotiate with Brennan, police said.

The negotiation went on for about 10 minutes before Brennan began to walk away, police said.
"Due to the immediate threat to public safety, and the subject not complying with the officers commands, force had to be used to subdue him," police said.
Brennan was arrested, handcuffed and searched, where police found a five-inch folding knife in his pants pocket.
Egg Harbor Township EMS evaluated Brennan and he was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus, police said.
At the time of the release, Dec. 10, Brennan was in police custody at the hospital with weapons and other charges pending, police said.
