Five Officers Graduate From Atlantic County Police Academy

Five new officers have graduated from the Atlantic County Police Academy, Class #17, Sheriff Frank X. Balles said on Wednesday.

Graduates included in the picture attached to this post are: SO Braun Hurley, SO Jonathan Camp (Top Gun Firearms Award Recipient), SO William Schellhas III (Emergency Vehicle Operations Award Recipient), SO Anthony Gonzalas, SO Joseph Ripa (Merit Award Recipient and 3rd Place Academic Award Recipient).

They completed the 22-week academy on Feb. 11. They are set to complete field training in time for the summer.

These officers, replacements due to retirement, have all previously served their community in some capacity.

“Three of the officers joining the ranks of the ACSO have served their country proudly and have recently returned from military deployment overseas,” Balles said. “The additional two officers have served their local community at the Atlantic County Justice Facility and are taking the next step in their careers in public service.”

“The field of law enforcement is becoming more challenging every day,” Balles said. “I am proud of these individuals who are passionate about bringing their experience to this agency while continuing their commitment to an ever-changing field.”
