Former NFL Player Charged With Assault In Atlantic City: Police

Recently-retired running back Franklin Gore was charged with simple assault in a domestic violence incident, Atlantic City police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A retired NFL running back was charged in a domestic violence incident in Atlantic City, police said.

Franklin Gore, 39, of Southwest Ranches, FL, was charged with simple assault related to a domestic violence incident in Tropicana Atlantic City on July 31, Atlantic City police said.

Police said they were called to Tropicana at 8:11 a.m. for a domestic violence dispute.

A 28-year-old Miami woman was talking to security and did not show signs of injury, police said. She did not file a complaint at the time, police said.

However, after an investigation, police charged Gore in connection with the incident, police said.

Gore was issued a summons pending a future court date, police said.

Gore spent 16 years in the NFL, with most of his time spent with the 49ers. He ranks third in NFL career rushing yards.
