Galloway Man Pleads Guilty In 2018 Drug Death

Brian Whitted, 56, pled guilty relating to the 2018 fatal drug overdose of Anthony Tamburelli.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man has pled guilty in the 2018 drug-related overdose of 59-year-old Anthony Tamburelli, officials announced Monday.

Brian Whitted, 56, pled guilty to first-degree strict liability for drug induced death, second-degree conspiracy to distribute heroin with co-defendant Emery Chapman and second degree possession with intent to distribute heroin.

On Monday, December 17, 2018, Galloway Township Police found Tamburelli dead in his home from a drug overdose. A police investigation found that Whitted and Chapman conspired to distribute heroin and sold Tamburelli a fatal combination of heroin and fentanyl.

The plea calls for a sentence of ten years in New Jersey state prison, subject to the No Early Release Act. Sentencing is scheduled for April 28, 2022.

This is an investigation by the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office with the assistance of the Galloway Township Police Department.
