Galloway Patch Letter to the Editor: Stockton President Was Concerned With Own Empire
Ocean City resident says Herman Saatkamp, whose resignation took effect Tuesday, was only concerned with building an empire.

To the Editor:
In my view, the legacy of Dr. Saatkamp was expanding acquisitions on the backs of students’, combined with making a permanent status of “adjunct” aka part time professors, thus denying benefits to save money for his grand schemes.
His priorities had less to do with education and educators and more to do with creating his own empire.

By getting Stockton to be the National Training Center for Homeland Security at the same time promoting the Holocaust Studies Center it would appear that the bottom line is not principle but money.
As the philosopher Santayana said, “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it’.
Where was the Board of Trustees during his tenure. They went passively along with his plans for uber-expansion!! Could no one reign him in?

Now Stockton is left in the lurch scurrying around to find a replacement. Who is going to make the decision on a new president, the same Board of Trustees?
Ultimately, I hope that the Stockton community - Professors, staff and students - will see a new day and will become stronger and truer in their educational mission.
Sincerely yours,
