Galloway Stabbing Sends Somers Point Man To Hospital: Police

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Bordentown man has been charged with aggravated assault after a fight Tuesday in Galloway that left another man with a stab wound, Galloway police said Wednesday.
Raul Virella Jr., 29, of Bordentown, was arrested Tuesday night in Hammonton following a search after he crashed his vehicle and abandoned it in Mullica Township, Galloway police said.
Authorities say Virella and a 23-year-old Somers Point man got into an argument in a parking lot on Federal Court in Galloway about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. The Somers Point man suffered a non-fatal stab wound to his abdomen and was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center, City Division for treatment, police said.

While Galloway police were at the site of the stabbing, Mullica police alerted them about the crash, police said.
Virella was tracked down with help from the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit and the Hamilton Township Police K-9 unit, in addition to Galloway and Mullica police.

Virella is being held in the Atlantic County jail. He was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to have weapons, police said.
Also assisting were the Hammonton police, the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad and Atlantic Care medics, police said.
