Gunfire Locater Alert Leads To 3 Arrests, 2 Guns Recovered
An alert from gunfire detection system ShotSpotter lead to three arrests and guns and drugs recovered, Atlantic City police said.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A ShotSpotter alert lead to the arrest of three men and the recovery of guns and drugs, Atlantic City police said Tuesday.
On April 16, Harid Palmer, 22, Kareem Watson Jr., 21 and Omar Law, 21, all of Atlantic City, were charged after gunfire was reported in the area of South Carolina and Adriatic Avenues at 6:31 p.m.
The report came from ShotSpotter, which is a service that locates and identifies gunfire to alert law enforcement. Officers, assisted by Surveillance Center personnel, witnessed a man who matched the description of the suspect conduct a narcotics transaction, police said. The man was Palmer, according to police.

Police converged on Palmer, Watson and Law. Palmer had on him a loaded handgun, more than 100 bags of heroin and more than six grams of cocaine, police said. Watson also had a loaded handgun and 40 bags of heroin, police said. Law had in possession a single bag of heroin, police said. All three were arrested without incident.
Palmer is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, two counts of possession of CDS, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone and contempt of court.

Watson is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of CDS, possession with the intent to distribute CDS and possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone.
Law is charged with possession of CDS.
Watson and Palmer were taken to Atlantic County Justice Facility, while Law was released on a summons with a future court date, police said.
