Hamilton Township House Fire Kills Resident
An 85-year-old was able to escape unhurt in the early-morning fire.
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ATLANTIC COUNTY, NJ — A resident died early Thursday morning in a Hamilton Township house fire. An 85-year-old resident escaped without injury, but authorities found another person dead inside the house.
Police have withheld the deceased person's name, pending positive identification. The fire took place at about 4 a.m. on the 6800 block of Landis Avenue. The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time authorities arrived.
Township of Hamilton police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the fire.

Assisting at the scene were the Mizpah, Mays Landing, Laureldale, Weymouth, Richland, Milmay, Newtonmville, Collings Lakes, Dorothy, Estell Manor and East Vineland fire departments; Tender Task Force Strike Team; Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office; and the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad.
