Man Charged With Attempted Murder For NJ Jail Assault: Prosecutor

MAYS LANDING, NJ — An Atlantic County inmate was charged with attempted murder after he attacked another inmate, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Shakur Aabid, 26, of Atlantic City, assaulted a fellow inmate at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on Sept. 13, Prosecutor William E. Reynolds said. He did not give any further details about the attack.

BreakingAC reported that Aabid continued to beat the victim even after he was unconscious, and the victim is now in a medically-induced coma.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit with the assistance of the Atlantic County Justice Facility are currently investigating the incident. The assault was caught on video, according to BreakingAC.
