NJ Man Gets 10 Years For 4-Month-Old Son's Death
Jose Rojas of Mays Landing was convicted of manslaughter after severely abusing the infant, according to authorities.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A South Jersey man has been sentenced to a decade in prison for killing his 4-month-old son, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced Thursday.
Jose Rojas of Mays Landing previously was convicted of manslaughter in the infant's 2018 death. In addition to 10 years in prison, Rojas' sentencing includes three years of supervised parole following his release.
Rojas' conviction stems from a Jan. 29, 2018, incident in which police were called to 6023 Hoover Dr. for a report of an unresponsive child. When police arrived, they found the 4-month-old boy unresponsive and with no pulse, authorities said.

At the time, authorities said Rojas was home alone with his three young children. Rojas told police the child rolled off the bed, approximately two feet from the ground. However, the child's injuries were more consistent with those sustained in a fall from 30 feet.
According to authorities, the child suffered hemorrhages in both eyes that were too numerous to count." The pattern of hemorrhages was consistent with severe abusive head trauma, doctors said.
