Missing Woman Found After She Attempts Robbery: Atlantic City PD

The woman's family reported her missing. She tried robbing a store while holding a knife, police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A woman armed who tried robbing an Atlantic City store with a knife had been reported missing, police said. Authorities found Samantha Orsino on Jan. 20 sleeping in her vehicle, Atlantic City police said Wednesday.

The attempted robbery took place at 12:56 p.m. Jan. 19 at Atlantic City Gasoline on Absecon Boulevard, police said. The clerk told police a woman took out a knife and demanded money. She covered her face with a scarf, the clerk told police.

The employee grabbed a baseball bat, and the woman fled the store, police said. She sped away in a small SUV with a man driving, and the license plates weren't readable, police said.

Orsino's family reported her missing Jan. 20 after she didn't return home. Her father told police her location later that day. He received her vehicle's GPS coordinates from OnStar.

The 25-year-old Fairlawn woman was found sleeping in the front seat of the SUV, police said. Orsino told police she ran out of gas and lost her cell phone. Her license plates were folded up, making them unreadable, police said.

Police also found a jacket in the back seat similar to what witnesses described. Orsino was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. She was taken to the Atlantic County Jail.
