Murder Charges In Stabbing Death Of Atlantic City Man: Prosecutor

George Harrell, 32, is charged with murder in the stabbing death of an Atlantic City man in June, according to officials.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — An Atlantic City man is charged with murder in the June stabbing death of another, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

George Harrell, 32, is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Prosecutor William E. Reynolds said.

Authorities believe that Harrell stabbed Dwight Hutchinson in the chest on North Kentucky Avenue in Atlantic City on June 5, 2022, Reynolds said.

On June 5, at about 2:20 p.m., Atlantic City police responded to a 911 call for Hutchinson, who was lying on the ground and unresponsive, Reynolds said. Medical personnel were unable to revive him, he said.

An autopsy on Hutchinson revealed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest and the manner of death was homicide, Reynolds said. The stabbing is still under investigation by Atlantic City police and the Prosecutor's Major Crimes Unit, he said.

Harrell is pending extradition from Philadelphia, Reynolds said. He was arrested without incident on Aug. 31 by the United States Marshal's Service, he said.
