Run for the Fallen Comes Through Galloway Saturday

The run is dedicated to those who have died for our country.

This year’s Run for the Fallen New Jersey comes through Galloway on Saturday, according to runforthefallen.org.

The run is held in honor of those who have died for our country. The first run was held in 2008 in honor of those who have died in the War in Iraq, and has grown each year since, according to runforthefallen.org.

A team of runners covers one mile for every soldier who fell during the conflict.

The 2014 New Jersey run begins Friday morning, 8:30 a.m., at Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May Point.

It comes through Ocean City around 4:30 p.m. for the final stop of the day.

In between, the course will take runners through these other Cape May County towns: West Cape May, Cape May City, Lower Township, Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, North Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City and Corson Inlet.

On Saturday, the run will cover the following towns: Somers Point, Linwood, Northfield, Pleasantville, Absecon, Galloway, Smithville, New Gretna, Little Egg Harbor, Tuckerton, Eagleswood, Stafford, Manahawkin, Barnegat, Forked River, Lacey, Bayville, Lanoka Harbor, Beachwood, and Toms River.

The run wraps up on Sunday at 4:30pm at the NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel.

Other towns covered that day will include: Brick, Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach, Brielle, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Asbury Park, Loch Arbour, Allenhurst, Long Branch, Oceanport, Little Silver, Shrewsbury, Tinton Falls and Middletown.
