1 Critical After Crash Caused By Drunk Driver In Gloucester: Cops

One person was airlifted to the hospital after an accident involving a drunk driver on Blackwood-Clementon Road Monday night, police said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ - A Clementon man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated following an accident that left one person in critical condition Monday night, Gloucester Township police said.

Rondy R. Henderson, 35, was arrested after police said he caused a three-car crash on Blackwood-Clementon Road in front of Highland Regional High School Monday night, police said.

One of the people involved in the accident was entrapped and needed to be rescued by Gloucester Township fire and EMS, police said. He was then flown via medial helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of that car was taken by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said. A third person who was in a different car had minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.

Henderson was charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree assault by auto and two counts of third-degree assault by auto. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Police didn’t release the names of those who were injured Tuesday morning. Police responded to the scene at about 7:17 p.m., and Blackwood-Clementon Road was closed for the next four hours after that. The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
