GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has released an updated schedule for the first day of school for students in the district’s three high schools.

According to the district’s website, students at Highland, Timber Creek and Triton regional high schools who are in the “green cohort” will report for the first day of school on Sept. 3. All students not in school will have their first day of remote learning the same day.

Students in this cohort are scheduled to attend school on Mondays, but will be starting four days early due to Labor Day being on Sept. 7. They will begin reporting to school on Mondays as of Sept. 14.

Each student in these cohorts will attend school the same day of the week as their first day. For example, students in the “orange cohort” will attend school on Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 8.

Students will attend school one day a week, and will engage in remote learning the other four days. Everyone will engage in remote learning on Wednesdays, and there is a 100 percent remote learning option. Read more here: Black Horse Pike Reopening Plan Includes Mostly Remote Learning

Students have already been assigned cohorts, determined by alphabetical order by grade. The schedule has also been arranged to allow students within the district who live in the same home to attend school on the same day. The parent of any student in which this is not the case should contact their school’s principal.

Many districts have been changing their plans after Gov. Phil Murphy announced that school districts may begin their academic year using a full-remote option if needed. Neither school district in Gloucester Township has decided to pursue that option. Read more here: Gloucester Twp. K-8 Schools Still Plan For Hybrid Reopening

The high school district told Patch its plan addresses the health and safety standards as well as the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) guidelines to reopen, and there is no need to open the year using the 100 percent remote option. The district’s board of education will next meet at 6 p.m. on Aug. 27.

More information on the reopening is available on the district's website and by emailing askboe@bhprsd.org.
