Berlin-Cross Keys Rd. Reopens As Widening Project Hits Next Stage

A 1.25-mile stretch of the well-traveled roadway was fully closed for several weeks. Here's what's left for the $6.9M project.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Berlin-Cross Keys Road reopened Wednesday afternoon, following several weeks of major work to widen the roadway.

A 1.25-mile stretch of the well-traveled roadway — running through Pine Hill, Gloucester Township and Winslow Township — had been fully closed since late November.

Camden County's $6.9 million project will widen the impacted portion of the road to two lanes in either direction and a center-turning lane.

Crews will resume work in the spring to install final pavement surfacing and permanent striping. No additional full-road closures are anticipated for the rest of the project, which county officials expect to be completed in April.

"This road closure definitely caused some disruptions the past few weeks, so we are thrilled that it is being reopened," County Commissioner Al Dyer said in a statement. "This project has been a massive undertaking but one that is incredibly necessary for the health and progress of our county's infrastructure."
