Black Horse Pike Teams Eliminated From Football Playoffs

Highland, Timber Creek and Triton have all been eliminated from the playoffs.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — All three Black Horse Pike Regional High School football teams have been eliminated in their quests to capture South Jersey championships.

Highland and Timber Creek were both eliminated in the semifinal rounds of their respective playoffs, while Triton fell in the first round.

A week after pulling off a first-round upset, No. 5 Timber Creek fell to top-seeded Burlington Township, 21-18, in the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs, according to nj.com. Burlington Township went up 21-6 before holding off a late rally from the Chargers.

Fred (Justin) Jefferson had a pair of rushing touchdowns, and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tarheeb Still. However, Timber Creek was unable to convert on any of its PATs. Burlington Township will face No. 3 Woodrow Wilson in the final. Timber Creek had advanced to the semifinals after a 33-28 upset win over Wall in the first round.

No. 2 Highland was shut out in its upset loss to No. 3 Clearview in the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to nj.com. Clearview won 20-0 to advance to its first sectional final in 32 years. It will face No. 4 Shawnee in the final.

Highland was in the semifinals after defeating No. 8 Ocean City, 28-14, in the first round. No. 6 Triton fell to No. 3 Woodrow Wilson, 41-6, in the first round last week, according to nj.com. Triton (5-4) will visit Highland (8-2)in the season finale for both teams on Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 22), 10 a.m. Timber Creek was 4-6 this season, and has no games remaining on its schedule.
