Blackwood Man Arrested In Gloucester Twp. Fatal Shooting: Police

A Blackwood man has been arrested one day after a fatal shooting that took place on the Black Horse Pike in Gloucester Township.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Blackwood man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Gloucester Township Thursday night, authorities announced.

Jose L. Rios Jr., 19, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the shooting that took place on the 1100 block of the Black Horse Pike in the Blackwood section of the township on Thursday, according to authorities.

Police were called to the area at about 5:51 p.m. Thursday evening for a report of a shooting. On Friday night, Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins identified the victim as 36-year-old Mark Dodaro, of Blackwood.

Dodaro was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to authorities.

During the ensuing investigation, detectives found surveillance footage that captured the incident, and witnesses identified Rios as the shooter, according to authorities.

Rios was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force — Camden Division in Washington Township on Friday, according to authorities. Rios was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility and is awaiting a detention hearing.
