Manure Found In Chick-fil-A Salad, Blackwood Man Says In Lawsuit

Edwin Molina has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant after he says he found manure in a salad he ordered in Deptford.

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Gloucester Township man says he ordered a salad at Chick-fil-A that had all the natural ingredients, including one that didn’t smell quite right. Edwin Molina, of the Blackwood section of the township, claims in a lawsuit filed against Chick-fil-A of Deptford and Taylor Farms that a salad he ordered at the Deptford restaurant included lumps of manure.

After consuming a good portion of the salad, he noticed what he first thought to be clumps of dirt. Molina didn’t want to put dirt in his mouth, so he went in for a closer look and was hit with an even more repelling odor.

Upon closer inspection, and after smelling the salad, Molina came to the conclusion that the “clumps of dirt” were actually manure. He claims that the incident caused him pain and suffering, prevented him from engaging in his normal activities and lead him to receive medical treatment.

He is suing Chick-fil-A and Doug Clark, the operator of the Deptford location, for negligence in that they allowed a dangerous and unsanitary condition to exist, and they didn’t properly inspect their food before serving it to their customers.

“Food safety and quality are our top priorities,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement. “We are aware of the complaint and are currently investigating.”

Molina is suing Taylor Farms NJ, alleging the company supplied the salad to the restaurant and is responsible for the “maintenance, inspection, production and handling” of the food.

However, when reached for comment on Thursday, a representative from Taylor Farms NJ denied that the company is responsible for providing food to Chick-fil-A.

Molina’s attorney was unavailable for comment on Thursday. Molina is seeking compensation for reasonable damages, interest, attorney's fees and the cost of the lawsuit.
