The crash remains under investigation.
The crash occurred Sunday at 2:09 a.m. at Route 540 and Pointers Auburn Road in Mannington Township, police said.

Kimar Johnson, 24, of Penns Grove, was driving a black 2013 Dodge Charger when it crashed into a utility pole, causing the car to be split in two between the front and rear seats, police said.
Hasan Edge, 23, of Salem, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not suspected in the accident, but the Charger has been impounded for the investigation. The driver, who was hospitalized with non-threatening injures, claimed that another vehicle caused him to swerve and lose control of the Charger, police said.
