Census Workers Will Make $18 An Hour In Camden County

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking to hire more than 3,000 Camden County residents to work on the 2020 Census.

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — The U.S. Census Bureau is still looking to hire thousands of Camden County residents this year, and is offering $18 an hour to those who get hired, county officials announced on Tuesday.

The Census needs up to 3,000 employees to help ensure an accurate count to help ensure Camden County receives the appropriate funding and is accurately represented in Congress for the next decade.

Nationally, the Census expects to hire about 400,000 part-time workers to follow up with households that don't voluntarily complete the Census form.

“The census is one of the most consequential events to impact our community each decade, so we need to make sure that we are counting every person in Camden County,” Camden County Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services, said. “Census jobs are perfect for folks in between jobs or who are looking to supplement their income after work. Census taker positions are temporary and flexible and provide a great opportunity to support your community while adding to your income.”

Staff at all branches of the Camden County Library System, as well as the Camden County One-Stop Center, are still available to assist interested applicants during regular operating hours.
