The dead end on Independence Boulevard, in the Sicklerville section of Gloucester Township, may have finally seen its time come to an end.
A developer is tentatively scheduled to go before the Gloucester Township Planning Board on May 27, 2014, to seek both preliminary and final approvals for 180 townhouses to be built behind the Lowe's Home Improvement on Cross Keys Road.
The long proposed community has been delayed as virtually all development in the area stopped with the start of the Great Recession in 2008.
With recent construction of new townhouses and shopping centers on the Winslow Township side of Cross Keys Road, it looks as if major development is now returning to the Gloucester Township side of the street.
It will be interesting to see what competitive edge these townhouses will have to differentiate them from the new ones in Winslow.
