Highland Boys Basketball Team Falls Short in South Jersey Final

Highland fell to Winslow in Tuesday night's championship game.

Production from the second-seeded Highland Regional High School boys basketball team’s top players was limited, and the Tartans found themselves outrebounded in a 78-52 defeat at the hands of No. 5 Winslow Township in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 final Tuesday night, according to nj.com.

Leading scorer Christian Scafidi was held to 14 points and six rebounds, and Gabe Villegas was held to 11 points, including three, three-pointers. He made over 90 three-point shots this season.

Winslow outrebounded Highland, 46-25.

Damola Dairo had a double-double for Highland, with 10 points and 13 rebounds, as well as three blocks, two steals and an assist.

Highland advanced to the championship game with a 68-61 win over No. 3 Toms River East in the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, it was a 69-67 overtime win over No. 10 Mainland.

The Tartans opened the playoffs with a 72-57 win over No. 15 Toms River South.

The Tartans finished the season with a record of 22-8.
