Man Charged With Murder Of Sicklerville Man In Camden: Prosecutor

The victim was shot last November and succumbed to his injuries a week later, authorities said.

CAMDEN, NJ — A man was charged with murder Friday for the fatal shooting of a Sicklerville resident in Camden, authorities said.

The victim — Victor Lebron, 26 — was shot in the city last November and succumbed to his injuries a week later, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO).

Lisandro Gomez, 26, of Camden, was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses. He was arrested Friday and placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a pretrial detention hearing.

Police responded to the shooting at about 12:30 p.m. Nov. 9 on the 800 block of North 8th Street. Arriving officers located the victim — later identified as Lebron — suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, authorities said.

Officers took Lebron to Cooper University Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for a week. He was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 16.

Gomez was charged with first-degree murder and three second-degree offenses: unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess weapons.

Lebron graduated from Paul VI High School in 2015 and went on to work as a truck driver, according to his obituary.

"Victor had a passion for cars," Lebron's obituary says. "His good-natured habit of critiquing his mom's cooking added a touch of humor to family gatherings. Victor was known for his humor, playfulness, and a gift for lightening the mood with a well-timed joke. He was also known for his generosity and willingness to assist others. Victor loved being a father and he cherished his relationship with his own father."
