Police Release Sketch Of Suspect In Near Abduction In Gloucester Township

Police released the composite sketch Thursday evening.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township Police have released a composite sketch of the man suspected of attempting to abduct a woman from outside her home earlier this week.

The man has been described as in his 20s between 5’6” and 5’9” with patchy facial hair wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The sketch, released Thursday evening, is attached to this post.

The man was driving what has been described as a newer model white SUV with black trim and an in-dash navigation system when he approached the woman while she stood outside her home on Mayapple Road at about 9:11 p.m. Monday night.

According to the initial investigation, the woman was standing outside her home smoking when the car drove up to her house.

The man got out of the car, asked her if she lived in the neighborhood, and then began asking her questions on how to leave.

He then walked up to her, grabbed her and attempted to pull her into the car. When the woman screamed, he let her go.

As she continued to scream, family members came outside. The car left the area towards Sicklerville Road.

The victim did not sustain any significant injuries and Detectives are following up with possible suspect identifications.

There was a similar incident recently in New Castle County, but there doesn’t appear to be any connection, Gloucester Township Police said.
