Registration Open For Gloucester Township Field Of Dreams
Field of Dreams, a specially designed baseball field for special needs players, begins in April.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Registration is now underway for the upcoming Field of Dreams season in Gloucester Township. Field of Dreams is an organized baseball league for special needs children and adults which enables them to develop socialization skills and have fun by playing baseball at a field specifically designed for them.
The league is separated into two divisions based on ability and age. Each game runs for about an hour, and they are non-competitive. There are eight games, and each game is two innings. Each player has the chance to bat, run and score in each inning. The season begins in April.
"Every person in Gloucester Township and surrounding areas has now an opportunity to enjoy America's favorite pastime," Gloucester Township Councilman and Field of Dreams Chairperson Michael Mignone said when the field opened in 2017.

Each player is accompanied by a buddy who guides them through the game. The role of the buddy is to protect the players from the balls and to help them run the bases. They are also a friend both on and off the field. Relatives and friends of the players can be their buddies, and anyone age 12 and up is eligible.
For information on volunteering, email Mignone at mmignone@glowtp.com.
