Card-Stealing Device Found At Another South Jersey 7-Eleven: Police

A skimmer, which can steal credit- and debit-card info, was also discovered at a different 7-Eleven in South Jersey just days earlier.

PENNSAUKEN, NJ — A skimming device was discovered at 7-Eleven in Pennsauken, leaving customers susceptible to identity theft, authorities said.

The skimmer was on a credit-card machine at the store, Police Chief Philip P. Olivo said on Thursday night. The illegal, inconspicuous devices can capture cardholders' personal information.

A skimmer was discovered Monday at 7-Eleven in Cinnaminson. It's unclear whether the incidents are related, as law enforcement continues to investigate both matters.

It's unknown when the skimmer was installed in the Pennsauken store. If you used the location's credit-card machine, you should inform your credit-card company, police said.

Card skimming occurs when devices are illegally placed on ATMs, fuel pumps and other locations to capture personal data and cardholders' PINs. Offenders use that information to create fake debit or credit cards and then steal from victims' accounts.
