This premiere marks the culmination of a seven-week program during which students participate in the entire process of creating a film, from screenwriting and story boarding to shooting and editing.

The program is directed by Logan Kauffeld. Kauffeld, a graduate of Bucknell University with degrees in both Theatre and Film. This is his first year directing the Summer Stage program.

“The kids are so enthusiastic. They just love their movies. They come in early to work, they bring props from home. They’re really excited about the opportunity to show their films to an audience,” said Kauffeld.

One of those enthusiastic students is Mia Prowisor, who is back for her second year in the film program. Her film is called “Dr. Oz, the Wizard of Psychology.”

“My show is a therapy session with the cast of the Wizard of Oz," Prowisor said. "I have filmed my whole life with family and friends at home. When I saw an article about this program, I thought it sounded like something I would like. I love it because the staff is so friendly and they take time to focus on each project. I also enjoy the premiere night. It’s a lot of fun.”

Kauffeld explained that as director, his role is to facilitate and guide the young film makers, but also to step back and make sure the project is really each student's own work.

“I couldn’t keep it running with 20 films in various phases of development without the staff working with me,” he said.

Valerie Genzano serves as assistant director; Donavan Schmidt, production assistant; Brandon Donahue, intern; and Ryan Bank, volunteer.
